"It has been a pleasure working with an artist that has such a strong social conscience as John Butler. The JB Seed has been a fantastic idea in concept and now in actuality. I was very happy to contribute to an ongoing grants program that is going to benefit many artists and projects that might not have got that initial helping hand from traditional funding bodies"

"It's an indication of the maturity of the Australian music industry when artist initiatives like the JB Seed and the Hilltop Hoods' SA hip hop grants emerge to make a difference. The JB Seed is my sort of project — it tries to make some impact on current social culture, it opens up visions for up and comers, and it reaches out to those artists from indigenous and remote communities who need it the most. And I believe in the JB Seed because Danielle and John are a quietly achieving power couple who've been giving back to their folks for a long time. It's always good to make mistakes on your journey, but I wish something like the JB Seed had been around when I started out in this wonderful madness"

"Culture is an imperative part of any society. From great societies in history, it is the cultural figures and their work that we remember and learn from, not their business leaders. Unfortunately most modern societies don't recognise this, and very few resources are put into developing contemporary culture. I am delighted to support the JB Seed, and tip my hat to John and Danielle for their gift to young artists, especially for the opportunities created for remote and indigenous artists for whom it is much harder to have their voices heard."

Jacqui McCoy (Geia)
We wish to honour the memory of the tireless work of the late Jacqui McCoy (Geia), who devoted much of her life to assisting disadvantaged artists from all backgrounds, but particularly Indigenous Australian artists. Jacqui was an integral committee member from the inception of The JB Seed Fund and was always enforcing the need for emerging artists to be nurtured. She was instrumental in developing a way of operating which would keep The JB Seed accessible to start-up artists and arts workers. Thanks Jacqui!
