How do can I submit my application?
This year applications are only being accepted by post. Please send them to:

Who can apply?
Any Australian citizen, who is practicing their art and engaging in quality cultural activities that further Australia’s cultural life.

Can you reassure me that my ideas won’t be shared?
All projects will be considered commercially in confidence.

Are theatre projects entitled to apply for funding?
Yes, theatre projects are eligible under the Social Activism Through The Arts category.

What art forms are eligible to apply other than music?
All art forms are eligible to apply under the Social Activism Through The Arts category.

Are you required to repay any profits made by the project?
No, applicants are not asked to repay any profits.

What is the limit of funding per application?
The limit for each category is different; please check the categories page for the specifics.

Do people need to apply direct or can they apply on behalf of someone?
People need to apply on their own behalf, unless there is a legitimate reason, for example if English is not your first language and you find it difficult to communicate your ideas or you have no ABN but do have an organization that will assist (auspice) your project.

What is the deadline for applications?
All deadlines are specified in the Expressions of Interest and on the application page. Dates are subject to change but will always be current on the application page.

What art forms can be utilised for Social Activism?
All arts forms are eligible under the Social Activism through the Arts category. It could be visual, performance, film or literature based works

What is a rationale?
A rationale in basic terms is reasoning that explains a specific course of action. It could also demonstrate a need for the project.

What is an abridged biography?
An abridged biography is a very short version of a full biography. Your highlights and any other information relevant to your project.

Can I send a cassette tape in?
We would prefer that you send in a CD but if that is not possible then a cassette tape is fine.

Does the music have to be of mixed and mastered quality?
No, we really just want to get an idea of the music.

Where will the Management workshop be held?
This is in the planning stage, but will probably be held in NSW.

Who makes the decisions about the projects to be funded?
The JB Seed committee make all decisions about which projects will be funded and it’s always a hard decision! Once we have been through the selection process we forward our recommendations to the AbaF board who then make final decisions, the successful applicants then enter into an agreement with the AbaF for the amount of the grant.

How long before I know if I have been successful or not?
After we receive the application you will be notified by the 21st of May if you have been successful and have made it to the next round. We may then ask for more information from you.

When will I receive the money?
Funds will be dispersed after the 1st August 2008.

When can the project start?
Projects can start after the funds are dispersed after the 1st August 2008.
